The Last Blog of 2023
This blog is a labour of love, and it will always be free. Over 1,000 people read every post which is incredible, and if just 100 people donate €2 it means that I’ll be able to continue doing all of this for another year. So if you like the work, it would mean the world to me if you considered making a donation, and thank you to everyone who already ha this year. There’s no expectations, as ever, and I hope you have a lovely week. Donate here
I’m back in Ireland. After quite a chaotic attempt at making it home, I got a flight this morning. I like to think this universe has a process worth trusting. For example, a woman recognised me on the flight, was prompted to buy Lonely Boy, and then messaged me to say it had already had a profound effect on her. This wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t slept in for my flight on Friday.
2023 has been quite the year. I’m not about to list off personal accomplishments. If you know you know. But it’s been an incredible and challenging year, both in my own life, and in the world at large. We seem to be in an age of volatility, and I hope, dearly, that this volatility ends both in our own lives and throughout the world. I think we deserve some rest from the suffering.
I’ve been trying to think about what message I want people to receive coming into the new year. This is, after all, my lost post of 2023, until 2024. And although I don’t usually put weight into such arbitrary dates and transformations. I do feel the urge to give you something to think about.
For the last week my brain has been stuck on one reoccurring idea, and I think this is the one that is most suitable to share. You are at the epicentre of a miracle. That is to say, you are the very source of a miracle, the miracle emanates from whatever combination of energy makes up you. Which means, each of us has the potential for wonderment, for incredible and awe-inspiring things. And this is no small claim. In fact, it’s a little overwhelming to understand this, that you, in your own way, are the catalyst for miraculous events.
But we don’t see this, do we? We tell ourselves we’re not good enough, that we need to look a certain way, be a certain way. But all you really need to be is you. Authentically and fully yourself. This is enough, more than enough, to unlock this potential. And being yourself, in this world, isn’t an easy thing to do, but it is doable.
So leaving 2023, if you remember one thing I’ve ever told you, remember this; you are the epicentre of a fucking miracle. Feel the goosebumps. Feel the fear. And see what happens.
Until next year,
Daragh
