Take Radical Breaks
Take Radical Breaks
This blog is a labour of love, and it will always be free. Over 1,000 people read every post which is incredible. And if just 100 people donate €2 it means that I’ll be able to continue doing all of this for another year. So if you like the work, it would mean the world to me if you considered making a donation. Thank you to everyone who already has this year. There’s no expectations, as ever, and I hope you have a lovely week. Donate here
There is also now a Thoughts Too Loud Podcast!
I took a rare break from the blog last week.
Scoundrel move, alas it was my birthday on Monday and I wanted a break from it. Breaks are needed.
Which speaks to something important about our mental health. IF you’re no longer getting enjoyment from something, if it’s beginning to feel like a task or chore, then you’re well within your rights to take a step back.
Because some days I don’t want to write, and some days I don’t want to speak. I hate feeling like my value is related to how prolific I am, or can be. As if I am not ‘good’ because I’m not producing. By God, capitalism really has its claws in all of our brains.
So we pause. We step back. We worry that everything will fall apart when we do this. But when we come back we can see that everything is still as it was. It’s all still here and I feel like I can continue.
So take radical breaks, revolutionary pauses. Be a rebel and catch up on sleep, or walk your dog. Be dangerous enough to be present, rather than counting numbers on your phone
