Pedalling

This blog is a labour of love, and it will always be free. Over 1,000 people read every post which is incredible. And if just 100 people donate €2 it means that I’ll be able to continue doing all of this for another year. So if you like the work, it would mean the world to me if you considered making a donation. Thank you to everyone who already has this year. There’s no expectations, as ever, and I hope you have a lovely week. Donate here

There is also now a Thoughts Too Loud Podcast!

What’s the craic with ye?

Times are weird. The world is fucked. And there are far more important things to concern ourselves with than what I’m going to talk about here. It feels disjointed to be trying to get on with life when the world is in such turmoil. I just wanted to acknowledge that, to say I am keenly aware of how unimportant some of thee things are.

That said, I’m quite happy to tell you that I have music coming out. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for so long, but obviously I have no musical ability. And no, I won’t be singing. I began working with an incredibly producer, Throwing Snow, back in March, and our first single is out this Tuesday, the 24th. It’s called Pedalling, and it’s our first of many tunes that we’re working on.

‘Gently euphoric and rich with summer-tinged nostalgia, the track marks a new creative collaboration with Cork writer, poet and mental health advocate Daragh Fleming.

Rooted in a sense of motion and memory, ‘Pedalling’ fuses the rhythmic propulsion of Throwing Snow’s electronic sound design with Daragh’s introspective and boldly vulnerable lyrics. The result is a rousing summer anthem that captures the emotional clarity of long, yet simultaneously transient, summer days. ‘

I’m very excited about this new lane of writing and performing. Working with Ross (Throwing Snow) has been so enriching and fun, and I hope you enjoy the work.
